In support of Egypt’s National Solid Waste Management Programme and the EU Green Initiative implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), SHiFTERRA continues its efforts in developing the Local Climate Change Action Plan and strategic roadmap for Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
The project supports local climate action in alignment with Egypt’s National Climate Change Strategy 2050, creating a stronger foundation for data-driven planning, coordinated action, and long-term climate resilience.

Building the Foundation for Local Climate Action
As part of Phase I project activities, a stakeholder workshop was held in Kafr El-Sheikh to discuss the findings of the current situational analysis—a key foundation for understanding environmental challenges and identifying climate action priorities across the governorate.
